Since our inauguration the POPS has performed a total of 48 concerts.  The POPS has survived and grown through the intense efforts of a talented volunteer board, its officers, and the general manager.  In our 1992-93 inaugural 4-concert season a total of 1,500 individuals attended with generous distribution of comp tickets.  No season tickets were sold.  The POPS in 1996 added the highly successful July 4th "Picnic with the POPS" community concert to its season.    The first Picnic attracted about 2,000 patrons and provided the impetus to continue. We expect at least 5,000 patrons in 2007. 

From the beginning the Picnic has been a community-wide endeavor, beginning with an initial partnership with Indiana University Foundation and the additional help of Indiana University.  The Steering Committee expanded to include business and community leaders who gave time, money and in-kind support to ensure the Picnic's success.
